1.5/100 is a fraction. We can divide the 1.5 by 100 because the 100 is under the 1.5.

In a fraction, the figure on the bottom is the denominator and divides the top number. The top number is the numerator.

So in our example of 1.5/100, the 100 is the denominator and divides the numerator, 1.5.

Doing the math on a calculator, you enter

1.5 ÷ 100 =

The answer in decimals is 0.015.
